How to Dispute a Google Review

If you come across an inappropriate review or one that violates policies on your Business Profile, you can report it. Google will only remove reviews that breach its guidelines.

Important Notes:

  • Do not report a review simply because you dislike or disagree with it.
  • Google does not mediate disputes between businesses and customers.
  • There is no reliable way to determine who is right about a particular customer experience.
  • When you flag a review as inappropriate, Google may take action, such as removing the review or banning the reviewer from posting future reviews. This typically happens if the review violates Google’s guidelines, such as containing spam or offensive language.
  • If you suspect a review is fake or biased, you can report it for further investigation.

Note: You can only dispute a review from within the Conversations tab if it was generated by the system. If the review was not system-generated, please start the process by [clicking here].

Reporting a Google Review from within the Conversations Tab

To report a Google review within the CRM:

  1. Go to the Conversations tab.
  2. Search for the contact whose review you want to dispute.
  3. Click on Dispute this review.

You will be prompted to confirm your Google email and business account associated with the Google My Business (GMB) review in question.

Next, you’ll have two options:

  • Report a new review.
  • Check the status of a previously reported review.

If you choose to report a new review for removal, Google will present a list of your recent reviews. You can either:

  • Click to view the review on Google Maps.
  • Submit a takedown request for removal.

Checking the Status of Reported Reviews

  • To check the status of a previously reported review, [click here].
  • If you select the option to check the status, you will see a list of your reported reviews along with their current status.
  • You can then select a specific review to view a summary and, if needed, submit an appeal if your takedown request was denied.

Note: There is a limit to the number of reviews Google will display in the review status check feature.

By following these steps, you can ensure that inappropriate or policy-violating reviews are properly reported and reviewed by Google.
